Sound familiar?

The job, before and after this agent.

What it feels like today

  • “Close drags because nobody knows which task is blocking which.”
  • “I spend the morning chasing people for status instead of closing the books.”
  • “The checklist exists, but nobody looks at it until something's already late.”

What you get with the agent

  • A weekday read of up to 100 open items in your Notion close checklist
  • Late items with days late, what's due today, and what's blocked and on what
  • What's left per owner, ending with the single most urgent item
  • One status post per day in your close channel, and silence between closes

Before

The controller opens Notion, filters by owner, then messages five people asking where their reconciliations stand.

After

At 9am the close channel already shows two late items, one blocked on a bank statement, and what each owner has left.

How it works

The whole workflow, step by step.

Every weekday morning the agent reads the open items of your month-end close checklist database in Notion (up to 100). While the close is in progress — items late, due today or due in the next few days — AI posts one status to your Slack close channel: open, late and blocked counts, late items with days late, what's due today, what's blocked and on what, what's left per owner, and the single most urgent item. Between closes it stays quiet. It tracks your checklist; it doesn't do the reconciliations or change tasks.

This is the workflow that opens in your workspace when you set the agent up. Every step can be edited.

  1. Step 1Weekdays at 9:00Runs every weekday morning; it only posts while your close is in progress (open items due soon or late). Set your time zone on the trigger.
  2. Step 2Read your close checklistReads the open items of your close checklist database in Notion (up to 100): task, owner, due date, status and notes.
  3. Step 3Check the due datesIn code, not AI: works out each open item's days late or days left in your time zone and puts it in a tier — late, due today, due in the next 3 days or later (items without a due date are kept, untiered). Change the tiers here (buckets).
  4. Step 4Count what's late or due soonIn code, not AI: counts the open items that are late, due today or due in the next 3 days — the close is in progress when there is at least one.
  5. Step 5Work out who's late and what's blockedThe due dates were tiered in code. AI reads the open checklist items, decides whether the close is in progress, and lists what's late, due today, blocked and left per owner.
  6. Step 6Close in progress?Posts only while the close is running; between closes nothing is posted.
  7. Step 7Post the close status to SlackPosts who's late, what's due today, what's blocked and what's left per owner to your close channel.
  8. Step 8Status postedThe run history keeps the day's close status.
  9. Step 9No close in progressNothing due soon or late; nothing was posted.

Example run

What goes in, and what comes out.

Example with fictional data

Comes in

Day 3 of a fictional close: 18 open items, 2 past due, 1 marked blocked on “waiting for October bank statement”.

The agent produces

Slack post: 18 open, 2 late, 1 blocked. Late: Payroll accrual (2 days, owner Sam). Blocked: Bank rec, waiting for statement. Most urgent: Revenue cut-off review, due today.

What you need

Everything it takes to run it.

About 15 minutes from purchase to live. A checklist above the canvas takes you through each step.

Plan

Included in Enterprise; on other paid plans it's $99 once. Agents run live on paid plans, from Basic ($39/mo).

Your AI key

Connect any of 14 AI providers on your own key. Your provider bills usage directly, at cost; we add no markup.

Apps

Checklist

  • A paid plan (agents run live on paid plans).
  • An AI provider key (Settings → AI Providers).
  • Notion and Slack, connected in Settings → Integrations.
  • A Notion close checklist database with task, owner, due date and status properties, kept up to date by the team.

Setup, about 15 minutes

  1. Connect your AI provider. The AI steps run on your own key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and more). Add one in Settings → AI Providers.
  2. Connect Notion. Connect the Notion workspace with your close checklist (Settings → Integrations → Notion).
  3. Connect Slack. Connect the Slack workspace your finance team uses (Settings → Integrations → Slack).
  4. Describe your checklist and close calendar. Open “Work out who's late and what's blocked” and replace the placeholder with your property names, done statuses, close window and target close day.
  5. Pick your close checklist. Open “Read your close checklist”, pick your workspace and database, and enter the filter that keeps only open items.
  6. Pick the Slack account and close channel. Open “Post the close status to Slack” and pick your account and channel. Invite the app to private channels first (/invite @Fluxo Flow).
  7. Test it with Dry Run. Press Dry Run: the agent runs on sample data with no messages sent and nothing written to your apps.
  8. Switch the trigger on. Open the trigger, set your time zone (days late are counted in it) and switch the schedule on. It checks every weekday at 9:00 and posts only during close.

Is it a fit?

Who it's for, and what it won't do.

Built for

  • Controllers and finance managers running a monthly close
  • Outsourced accounting firms closing for clients
  • Finance teams that keep their close checklist in Notion

What it doesn't do

  • It tracks your checklist; it doesn't do reconciliations, journal entries or any accounting work (see Bank & Payout Reconciliation for that).
  • It doesn't change tasks in Notion or DM people — one channel post per day.
  • It never invents tasks, owners or reasons for delays; it reports what the checklist says.
  • It reads up to 100 open items per run.

We list the limits up front so you can decide before you buy.

FAQ

Questions about Month-End Close Tracker.

Will it make up status or owners?

No. It reports only what your checklist says and never invents tasks, owners or reasons for delays. It doesn't change tasks or DM anyone.

Does it do the reconciliations?

No. It tracks the checklist. For matching bank or payout lines, see the Bank & Payout Reconciliation agent.

What does setup take?

About 15 minutes: a Notion database with task, owner, due date and status properties, Slack, and a short description of your close calendar.

Is it worth paying for?

It's a one-time purchase that never renews, and it replaces the daily status chase during every close. Live runs need a paid plan and your own AI key; Dry Run is free.

What does the checklist need?

A Notion database with one page per close task and properties for the task name, owner (a person), due date and status — plus optional notes/blocker and period. Recurring close templates work well: duplicate the tasks each month with new due dates.

What filter do I enter?

Notion's filter for “not done”. For a Status property: {"property": "Status", "status": {"does_not_equal": "Done"}}. For a Select property use "select" instead of "status"; for a checkbox named Done: {"property": "Done", "checkbox": {"equals": false}}.

How are late and due-soon items worked out?

In code: “Check the due dates” counts each item's days late or days left in your trigger's time zone from its Due date property (also Due date, Deadline or Date), and only those tiers reach the AI. To change the 3-day “due soon” tier, edit the buckets there (and “Count what's late or due soon”).

Does it DM people?

No. It posts one status to your close channel and names the owners.

Is this a subscription?

No. Month-End Close Tracker is a one-time purchase of $99 per workspace and never renews. The Enterprise plan includes it at no extra cost. Running it live needs a paid plan (from Basic ($39/mo)), and your AI provider bills you directly for usage.

Can I test it before it touches real data?

Yes. Once it's set up in your workspace, Dry Run plays every step on sample data with simulated AI and app calls: nothing is sent and nothing in your apps changes. Switch the trigger on only when you're happy.
