Messaging integration

Slack integration for AI workflows.

Post updates, alerts and AI summaries to Slack, and react to new messages and emoji reactions in seconds.

Live

In short

Fluxo Flow connects to Slack by signing in to Slack; workflows can post a message, reply in a thread and update a message and more, and start from new message in channel, new message in channel (instant) and reaction added. The integration is live.

Live means tested end to end against real accounts. Found a problem? Tell us.

What you can do

Actions and triggers for Slack.

Actions

  • Post a message

Posts a message (plain text or Block Kit blocks) to a channel as the Fluxo Flow app.

  • Reply in a thread

Replies under an existing message, optionally also sending the reply to the channel.

  • Update a message

Edits a message the app posted earlier (text and/or blocks).

  • Upload a file

Uploads a file (text you provide, or a file downloaded from a URL, up to 10 MB) and shares it in a channel or thread.

  • Find user by email

Looks up a Slack member by email address (to mention them as <@id> or invite them).

  • Read recent channel messages

Reads a channel's recent messages (oldest first, ready to summarise). Thread replies aren't included; each message shows its reply_count and thread_ts.

  • Create a channel

Creates a public or private channel (the app becomes a member).

  • Invite people to a channel

Adds members (up to 1,000 user ids, comma-separated) to a channel the app is in.

  • Set channel topic

Sets a channel's topic (shown under its name).

Triggers

  • New message in channel (checked on your plan's schedule interval)

Starts a run for each new message posted in a channel (checked on your plan's schedule interval).

  • New message in channel (instant) (instant webhook)

Starts a run within seconds of a message in a channel, delivered by Slack's Events API. The app's own messages never trigger it.

  • Reaction added (instant webhook)

Starts a run when someone adds an emoji reaction to a message in a channel (e.g. ✅ to approve), delivered by Slack's Events API.

How to connect

Connect Slack in a minute.

Connects by signing in to Slack. Tokens are encrypted and renewed automatically.

  1. Open Settings → Integrations in your workspace and click Connect on Slack.
  2. Approve the Fluxo Flow app for your Slack workspace.
  3. Invite the app to the channels it should post in or listen to: /invite @Fluxo Flow.

What you need on the Slack side

  • A Slack workspace where you can install apps (some workspaces require an admin to approve new apps).
  • Invite the Fluxo Flow app to each channel it should post in or listen to: /invite @Fluxo Flow.

Permissions & limits

What it can access, and how fast it runs.

Permissions requested

  • Post, reply to and update messages

    chat:write

  • Pick a channel from a list

    channels:read, groups:read

  • Read recent channel messages, and the new message triggers (polling and instant)

    channels:history, groups:history

  • Find user by email

    users:read, users:read.email

  • Upload a file

    files:write

  • Create channels, invite people, set topics

    channels:manage, groups:write

  • Reaction added trigger

    reactions:read

Limits and timing

  • Polling triggers are checked on your plan's schedule interval: Basic every 15 minutes, Pro every 5 minutes, Business every 2 minutes, Elite every minute.
  • Instant triggers arrive by webhook within seconds of the event.
  • If Slack says to slow down (HTTP 429 or 503), requests wait as told and retry a limited number of times.
  • Uploaded files: up to 10 MB per step.
  • The polling new-message trigger may lag on very busy channels because Slack limits how often apps outside its Marketplace can read history; the instant trigger doesn't have that limit.

FAQ

Slack questions, answered.

Can it post to private channels?

Yes, once you invite the Fluxo Flow app to the channel.

What's the difference between the two new-message triggers?

“New message in channel (instant)” is pushed by Slack within seconds. The original “New message in channel” checks the channel on your plan's schedule interval; it's a fallback that works even if events are delayed. Slack limits how often apps outside its Marketplace can read history, so the polling trigger may lag on very busy channels.

Will the app's own messages trigger my workflow?

No. Messages the Fluxo Flow app posts are ignored by the instant trigger, so a workflow can reply in the channel it listens to without looping.

I connected Slack before these actions existed. Do I need to reconnect?

Yes, once: new actions (files, channels, user lookup, reactions) need extra Slack permissions. Steps that need them will ask you to reconnect.

How big can uploaded files be?

Up to 10 MB per step. Larger files are better shared as a link.

Is the Slack integration ready to use?

Yes. Slack is live: connect it in Settings → Integrations on any plan, including Free (on Free you can build with it and Dry Run; running it live needs a paid plan).

What happens if the connection expires?

Access tokens are renewed automatically. If Slack revokes access (for example, the person who connected it leaves), steps that use the connection fail and show the error in the run trace; reconnect in Settings → Integrations.

Can I call Slack endpoints the integration doesn't cover?

Yes, if Slack has an API: save a key in the encrypted credential vault and call it with an HTTP Request step.

Can I test a workflow without touching my real data?

Yes. Dry Run walks through every step with simulated app calls, so nothing is sent until you run it for real or activate its trigger.
