The job, before and after this agent.
What it feels like today
- “Building the pre-shift brief takes me half an hour I don't have.”
- “An allergy note on a booking never made it to the kitchen.”
- “We find out about the open shift when nobody shows up.”
What you get with the agent
- Every day before service, reads today's bookings and events from your reservations sheet and today's shifts from your rota.
- Reads today's specials and 86'd items from your Notion list.
- Writes the line-up brief: covers by period with the sum shown, VIPs and occasions, large parties and private events.
- Copies every allergy or dietary note on a booking exactly as written, so the whole team sees it.
- Posts it to your team's Slack channel, open shifts included.
Before
Twenty minutes before doors you're reading bookings off a screen, shouting specials across the pass, and hoping someone saw the peanut allergy on table 12.
After
The brief is already in Slack: 86 covers across lunch and dinner, an anniversary at 7:30, the allergy note copied word for word, two specials, one item 86'd and an open bar shift.
How it works
The whole workflow, step by step.
Every day before service the agent reads today's bookings and events from your reservations sheet, open shifts from your rota sheet, and today's specials and 86'd items from your Notion database. AI writes the line-up brief — covers by period with the sum shown, VIPs and occasions, every allergy noted on a booking copied exactly as written, large parties and private events, specials, 86'd items and open shifts — and posts it to your team's Slack channel. It reads what's in the sheet: it doesn't connect to OpenTable, Resy or a POS, so export or paste the day's bookings in first.

This is the workflow that opens in your workspace when you set the agent up. Every step can be edited.
- Step 1Every day at 15:00Runs every day before evening service. Set your time zone (and the time) on the trigger.
- Step 2Read today's reservations and eventsReads your reservations sheet (exported or pasted from OpenTable, Resy or your POS): one row per booking or event, with date, time, name, covers and notes.
- Step 3Read the rotaReads your rota sheet, to spot today's open or unfilled shifts.
- Step 4Read the specials & 86 listReads your Notion “Specials & 86” database: one page per special or 86'd item, with its date or an Active tick.
- Step 5Keep today's bookingsIn code, not AI: keeps only the reservation rows dated today in the trigger's time zone (set it on the trigger), so other days never reach the brief.
- Step 6Keep today's shiftsIn code, not AI: keeps only the rota rows dated today in the trigger's time zone.
- Step 7Write the line-up briefAI writes today's pre-shift brief: covers by time, VIPs, large parties and occasions, allergies noted on bookings, private events, specials and 86'd items, and open shifts.
- Step 8Post the brief to SlackPosts the brief to your team channel before service.
- Step 9Brief postedThe run history keeps the brief and the numbers behind it.

Is it a fit?

Built for
- Restaurant general managers
- Head chefs and sous chefs running line-up
- Hotel restaurants and bars
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't connect to OpenTable, Resy or a POS: it reads only what's in the sheet, so export or paste bookings in first.
- It never infers allergies: it copies the notes on bookings as written, so staff must still ask every table.
- It doesn't change bookings, the rota or the Notion list.
- Rows whose date it can't read are left out of the brief (2026-10-13, 10/13/2026 or October 13, 2026 all work).
We list the limits up front so you can decide before you buy.

FAQ
Questions about Pre-Shift Brief.
Can I trust it with allergies?
It never infers allergies. It copies each note on a booking exactly as written, so staff still ask every table. It reads only your sheets and Notion list and changes nothing.
Does it connect to OpenTable, Resy or my POS?
No. Export or paste the day's bookings into your reservations sheet before it runs. Many systems can export to CSV or Google Sheets.
How much setup?
About 15 minutes: connect Google Sheets, Notion and Slack, pick your sheets and specials list, and describe your venue.
Is it worth it?
It's a one-time purchase that never renews, set against building the brief by hand every day. You need a paid plan and your own AI provider key; Dry Run is free.
How should the Notion list look?
A database with one page per item: a Name, a Type (Special or 86), and either a Date or an Active tick, plus optional Price and Notes. Share it with Fluxo Flow (••• → Connections).
Is this a subscription?
No. Pre-Shift Brief is a one-time purchase of $69 per workspace and never renews. The Enterprise plan includes it at no extra cost. Running it live needs a paid plan (from Basic ($39/mo)), and your AI provider bills you directly for usage.
Can I test it before it touches real data?
Yes. Once it's set up in your workspace, Dry Run plays every step on sample data with simulated AI and app calls: nothing is sent and nothing in your apps changes. Switch the trigger on only when you're happy.
