Get the frost warning while there's still daylight to act
Every afternoon AI checks the next 48 hours of forecast for each field against your frost and heat limits. If a limit is hit, your crew gets your own playbook steps.

Sound familiar?
The job, before and after this agent.
What it feels like today
- “I check the forecast at 9 p.m. and realize it's too late to cover the rows.”
- “Every field and crop stage has a different danger point, and I keep them in my head.”
- “The crew does something different every time a cold night comes.”
What you get with the agent
- Every early afternoon, gets the National Weather Service forecast for each field and greenhouse.
- Checks the next 48 hours against your limits by crop and growth stage, flagging a risk at the limit and a watch within 2°F.
- When a limit is met, the crew gets a Slack alert and the crew lead an email with the field, forecast value, your limit and your playbook steps.
- When there's no risk, nothing is sent, so alerts mean something.
Before
You glance at the phone forecast after dinner, see 31°F, and scramble in the dark to find row cover and wake the crew.
After
At 2 p.m. the crew gets a Slack alert: the strawberry block at bloom stage, forecast 30°F at dawn, your limit 32°F, cover rows and run frost irrigation. There's daylight to do it.
How it works
The whole workflow, step by step.
Every early afternoon the agent reads your fields and greenhouses from Google Sheets and gets the National Weather Service forecast for each (US only). AI checks the next 48 hours against your frost and heat limits by crop and growth stage, or a field's own limits, flagging a risk at the limit and a watch within 2°F. When a limit is met, the crew gets a Slack alert and the crew lead an email with the field, the forecast value, your limit and your own playbook steps — cover rows, frost-protection irrigation, vent greenhouses, harvest early. When there's no risk, nothing is sent. It's a point forecast, not a field sensor or microclimate model, and it doesn't control irrigation or vents.

This is the workflow that opens in your workspace when you set the agent up. Every step can be edited.
- Step 1Every day at 13:00Runs every early afternoon, leaving time to cover rows or set up irrigation before evening. Set your time zone on the trigger.
- Step 2Read your fields and greenhousesReads your fields tab: one row per field or greenhouse with Lat, Lon, crop, growth stage and (optionally) its own frost and heat limits.
- Step 3Each field or greenhouseGets the forecast for every field or greenhouse (up to 15).
- Step 4Find the forecast officeAsks the National Weather Service which forecast grid covers this field (from its latitude and longitude).
- Step 5Get the forecastReads the National Weather Service 12-hour forecast periods for this field (temperature, chance of rain, wind and the forecast text).
- Step 6Check frost and heat riskAI checks the next 48 hours (the forecast's first 4 periods) for each field against your limits by crop and growth stage and, when one is met, lists your own playbook steps for it.
- Step 7Frost or heat risk?A risk or watch alerts the crew in Slack and by email. No risk: nothing is sent.
- Step 8No riskNo field is near its limits in the next 48 hours: nothing is sent. The run history keeps the check.
- Step 9Alert the crew in SlackPosts the alert with each field, the forecast value, your limit and your playbook steps to the crew channel.
- Step 10Email the crew leadEmails the same alert to your crew lead or farm manager (up to 5 addresses), so it reaches someone away from Slack.
- Step 11Crew alertedThe run history keeps the forecast check and the alert.

Example with fictional data
Comes in
Fields sheet (fictional): North Orchard, apples, bloom; Greenhouse 2, lettuce. Your limits: frost 28°F at bloom, heat 85°F for greens.
The agent produces
North Orchard: watch, 30°F forecast Thursday dawn (within 2°F of your limit). Greenhouse 2: no risk. Watch alert posted to Slack and emailed to the crew lead with your frost steps.

Checklist
- A paid plan (agents run live on paid plans).
- An AI provider key (Settings → AI Providers).
- Google Sheets and Slack, connected in Settings → Integrations, plus an HTTP / Custom API connection to https://api.weather.gov (free, no key).
- A fields tab with each location's Lat and Lon, crop and growth stage, and your written limits and playbook.
Setup, about 20 minutes
- Connect your AI provider. The AI steps run on your own key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and more). Add one in Settings → AI Providers.
- Connect Google Sheets. Connect the Google account that can open your fields sheet (Settings → Integrations → Google Sheets).
- Connect the National Weather Service (HTTP / Custom API). In Settings → Integrations, add an HTTP / Custom API connection named “National Weather Service” with base URL https://api.weather.gov and Authentication “None”. The NWS API is free, public domain and needs no key; it covers US locations only.
- Connect Slack. Connect the Slack workspace your crew uses (Settings → Integrations → Slack).
- Pick your fields sheet. Open “Read your fields and greenhouses” and pick your account, spreadsheet and tab.
- Set up the weather lookups. Open “Find the forecast office” and “Get the forecast”: pick the National Weather Service connection in both, and in Extra headers replace the placeholder with your business name and a contact email.
- Paste your limits and playbook. Open “Check frost and heat risk” and replace the placeholder with your limits by crop and stage and your playbook steps.
- Pick who gets the alerts. Open “Alert the crew in Slack” and pick your account and channel, then “Email the crew lead” and enter the address.
- Test it with Dry Run. Press Dry Run: the agent runs on sample data with no messages sent and nothing written to your apps.
- Switch the trigger on. Open the trigger, set your time zone and switch the schedule on. It runs every day at 13:00.

What it doesn't do
- It's a point forecast (US only), not a field sensor or microclimate model: cold pockets and low spots can be colder than forecast.
- It doesn't control irrigation, vents or heaters; the crew acts on the alert.
- It sends only your own playbook steps and never invents limits or protection advice.
We list the limits up front so you can decide before you buy.

FAQ
Questions about Frost & Heat Alert.
Is it as good as a sensor in the field?
No. It reads a point forecast (US only), which can miss cold pockets and low spots. Keep your thermometers; this gives the crew an early warning to act on.
Will it invent protection advice?
No. It sends only your own playbook steps and limits, and it doesn't control irrigation, vents or heaters.
How long does setup take?
About 20 minutes: connect Google Sheets, the free weather service and Slack, set up your fields sheet and paste your limits and playbook.
Is it worth it?
It's a one-time purchase that never renews, set against checking forecasts field by field yourself. You need a paid plan and your own AI key; Dry Run is free.
Where does the weather come from?
The US National Weather Service API (https://api.weather.gov): free, public domain and no key, through an HTTP / Custom API connection. Two calls per location: one finds the forecast grid for the latitude and longitude, the second reads the 12-hour forecast. US locations only. NWS asks every app to name itself and a contact in the User-Agent header, which is why you add yours in setup. Its forecasts are general area forecasts, not on-site measurements.
What should the fields sheet look like?
One row per field or greenhouse with a header row: Field, Lat, Lon (named exactly so, up to 4 decimals), Crop and Stage, plus optional Frost limit and Heat limit columns that override the defaults for that field. Update the stage as the season moves.
Is it a frost sensor?
No. It reads a point forecast for each location, which can miss cold pockets and low spots. Keep your thermometers and sensors; this is an early warning so the crew has time to act.
Is this a subscription?
No. Frost & Heat Alert is a one-time purchase of $49 per workspace and never renews. The Enterprise plan includes it at no extra cost. Running it live needs a paid plan (from Basic ($39/mo)), and your AI provider bills you directly for usage.
Can I test it before it touches real data?
Yes. Once it's set up in your workspace, Dry Run plays every step on sample data with simulated AI and app calls: nothing is sent and nothing in your apps changes. Switch the trigger on only when you're happy.
