Sound familiar?
The job, before and after this agent.
What it feels like today
- “I answer the same vacation-policy question in Slack every single week.”
- “Requests get lost in the channel because nobody knows who owns them.”
- “We have no idea which answers are missing from our handbook.”
What you get with the agent
- Answers in the Slack thread within seconds, using only your chosen Notion handbook page and citing the section.
- Follow-ups understood: it remembers the last 5 exchanges in each thread for 14 days.
- Requests a person must act on (access, purchases, exceptions, pay, personal matters) handed to the topic's owner instead of guessed.
- Thanks, chatter and teammates' own answers left alone.
- Every question logged to a Google Sheet with the outcome and what your handbook is missing.
Before
Your HR lead gets pinged about rollover days, the IT person about laptop resets, and both lose an hour a day to questions already answered in the handbook nobody reads.
After
Someone asks in #ask-ops and gets an answer in the thread, with the handbook section cited. A laptop request is handed to IT by name. At month end, the log shows three gaps to add to the handbook.
How it works
The whole workflow, step by step.
Starts within seconds of each message in your help channel (e.g. #ask-ops or #it-help), including thread replies. AI leaves thanks and chatter alone and picks up questions and requests. Questions are answered in the thread using only the Notion handbook or FAQ page you choose (read fresh on every question, written however you like), with the section cited; the last 5 questions and replies in each thread are remembered for 14 days so follow-ups are understood. When the answer isn't clearly there, or the message is a request a person must act on (access, purchases, exceptions, pay, personal matters), the topic's owner from your settings is tagged in the thread instead. Every question is logged to a Google Sheet with the outcome and what's missing from your answers. It reads that one page's top-level text only (not toggles, sub-pages or the rest of your Notion workspace) and doesn't act on requests itself.

This is the workflow that opens in your workspace when you set the agent up. Every step can be edited.
- Step 1New message in your help channelStarts within seconds of a message in the Slack channel you pick (e.g. #ask-ops or #it-help), including replies in threads. The app's own messages never start it.
- Step 2Is it for the help desk?AI decides whether the message is a question or a request the help desk should pick up (not a thank-you, a chat or a teammate's own answer) and finds the thread it belongs to.
- Step 3Pick it up?Thanks, chatter and teammates' own answers are left alone; questions and requests go on.
- Step 4Left aloneNot a question or request for the help desk; the run history keeps the message.
- Step 5Recall the threadReads the last 5 questions and answers in this thread (remembered for 14 days after the last one), so a follow-up is understood. Nothing is found for a new thread.
- Step 6Read your handbook pageReads the text of the Notion page you keep your answers in (your handbook or FAQ: headings, paragraphs, lists), up to 500 blocks or 50,000 characters. Text inside toggles isn't read.
- Step 7Answer from your handbookAI answers only from your Notion handbook page and cites the section it used. When it isn't sure, or the message is a request a person must handle, it hands off to the topic's owner instead.
- Step 8Answer or hand off?Clear answers are posted in the thread; low-confidence questions and requests tag the topic's owner instead.
- Step 9Tag the owner in the threadReplies in the thread, tagging the person who owns the topic with what's needed.
- Step 10Answer in the threadReplies in the thread with the answer and the handbook section it came from.
- Step 11Remember the threadSaves this question and the reply with the earlier ones in the thread (the last 5 are kept, for 14 days after the last one).
- Step 12Log the questionAdds a row to your help desk log sheet: when, who asked, the question, answered or handed off, the topic, confidence, source and any knowledge gap.
- Step 13DoneThe run history keeps the message, the answer or hand-off and the log row.
Example run
What goes in, and what comes out.
Example with fictional data
Comes in
Message in #ask-ops at fictional Kestrel Labs: “How many vacation days do new starters get in year one, and do unused days roll over?”
The agent produces
Thread reply: 15 days in year one, up to 5 roll over to the next year, citing the “Time off” section of the handbook. Logged as answered, high confidence, no gap.

Is it a fit?
Who it's for, and what it won't do.
Built for
- People-ops and HR leads at growing companies
- IT generalists fielding internal questions
- Operations teams running an internal help channel
- Remote companies with a Notion handbook
What it doesn't do
- It answers only from the one Notion page you choose — no search across your whole Notion workspace, sub-pages, Drive or the web. It reads the page's top-level text (up to 500 blocks or 50,000 characters); text inside toggles isn't read.
- It doesn't act on requests (no access changes, purchases or approvals); it hands them to the owner.
- It doesn't write or update your answers; use the log's gap column to see what to add.
- One help channel per setup.
- Its memory is per thread and short: the last 5 exchanges, forgotten 14 days after the last one.
We list the limits up front so you can decide before you buy.

FAQ
Questions about Internal Help Desk (Slack).
What if it gives a wrong answer?
It answers only from the one Notion page you choose, cites the section, and tags the topic's owner instead of guessing when the answer isn't clearly there. Every question is logged so you can review its answers.
Can it search all of Notion or Google Drive?
No, by design: it reads one handbook page (top-level text, up to 50,000 characters; not toggles or sub-pages). One help channel per setup; set it up again for a second channel.
How long does setup take?
About 25 minutes: connect Slack, Notion and Google Sheets, pick the channel and page, and list your topic owners. To run it live you need a paid plan and your own AI provider key (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and others), added in Settings. Dry Run on sample data is free, so you can see real output before you commit.
Is it worth the price?
It's a one-time purchase that never renews. Think of the time your HR and IT people spend answering the same questions every week.
Where does it get answers from?
Only from the one Notion page you pick (your handbook or FAQ, written however you like). It reads the page's top-level text — headings, paragraphs, lists, to-dos — up to 500 blocks or 50,000 characters; text inside toggles, sub-pages, the rest of your Notion workspace, Google Drive and the web aren't read.
How does it know who to hand off to?
From the topic owners you list in its rules (e.g. “IT and laptops — U02ITDESK”, plus a default owner). The handbook page holds the answers; the owners stay in the agent's settings.
Does it remember the conversation?
Within a thread, yes: the last 5 questions and replies, for 14 days after the last one, so “and for part-timers?” is understood.
Can it cover two channels?
One channel per setup. Set the agent up again for a second channel (e.g. one for IT, one for HR) with its own handbook page.
Is this a subscription?
No. Internal Help Desk (Slack) is a one-time purchase of $99 per workspace and never renews. The Enterprise plan includes it at no extra cost. Running it live needs a paid plan (from Basic ($39/mo)), and your AI provider bills you directly for usage.
Can I test it before it touches real data?
Yes. Once it's set up in your workspace, Dry Run plays every step on sample data with simulated AI and app calls: nothing is sent and nothing in your apps changes. Switch the trigger on only when you're happy.
