Integration guide

Notion and Slack, kept in sync by a workflow

Requests posted in a Slack channel become structured Notion pages; new or changed pages in a Notion database are announced in the right channel.

In short

Fluxo Flow connects Notion and Slack (both live): a new message in a Slack channel can become a Notion database page (with AI pulling out the fields), and a new or updated page in a Notion database can post a summary to Slack.

What you can build

Notion + Slack: 3 workflows.

Every step is a real node or connector action in the app.

Slack request → Notion page → thread reply

4 steps

Messages in #requests become rows in a Notion database, and the requester gets the link in the thread.

  1. Step 1: App event triggerSlack: New message in channel (instant)
  2. Step 2: AI GenerateTitle, category, priority as JSON
  3. Step 3: IntegrationNotion: Create a page in a database
  4. Step 4: IntegrationSlack: Reply in a thread with the link

Result: Requests stop getting lost in scrollback; everyone can see the queue.

Notion status change → Slack update

3 steps

When a project or ticket page changes, the owning channel gets a one-line update.

  1. Step 1: App event triggerNotion: New or updated page in database
  2. Step 2: RouterOnly when Status changed to Done or Blocked
  3. Step 3: Slack PostPost the update to the team channel

Result: Status lives in Notion; news reaches people where they talk.

Support ticket triage

5 steps

The template: AI classifies tickets, urgent ones page on-call in Slack, the rest are logged to Notion.

  1. Step 1: Webhook triggerHelpdesk sends a ticket
  2. Step 2: AI GenerateCategory, urgency, summary
  3. Step 3: RouterUrgent?
  4. Step 4: Slack PostPage on-call
  5. Step 5: IntegrationNotion: log the ticket

Result: Outages surface in minutes; everything else waits in an organized queue.

Under the hood

The triggers and actions these use.

  • Slack: New message in channel (instant)trigger, instant

Starts a run within seconds of a message in a channel, delivered by Slack's Events API. The app's own messages never trigger it.

  • Notion: Create a page in a databaseaction

Adds a page (row) to a database, with a title, optional properties and paragraph text.

  • Notion: New or updated page in databasetrigger, checked on your plan's interval

Starts a run each time a page in a database is added or edited (edits within the same minute count once). Checked on your plan's schedule interval.

  • Notion: Update page propertiesaction

Changes properties of a page (a database row): status, dates, people, numbers…

  • Slack: Post a messageaction

Posts a message (plain text or Block Kit blocks) to a channel as the Fluxo Flow app.

  • Slack: Reply in a threadaction

Replies under an existing message, optionally also sending the reply to the channel.

Set it up

Connect Notion + Slack in 4 steps.

  1. Connect Notion and share the database

In Settings → Integrations, connect Notion and pick the pages and databases Fluxo Flow may use. Databases added later need ••• → Connections → Fluxo Flow in Notion.

  2. Connect Slack and invite the app

Connect Slack, then /invite @Fluxo Flow in each channel it should read or post in.

  3. Map fields to your database

In the Notion step, pick the database and map the AI step's JSON fields to its properties (title, select, people, dates).

  4. Dry Run, then activate

Dry Run with a sample message, check the page the run would create, then activate the trigger.

Instant vs polling triggers

Slack's "New message in channel (instant)" trigger is pushed by Slack within seconds, and the app's own messages never trigger it, so a workflow can reply in the channel it listens to without looping. Notion's database triggers check on your plan's schedule interval, at most every 2 minutes to stay within Notion's rate limit; several edits to one page within the same minute start one run.

Common variations

Employee onboarding builds a Notion onboarding page and pings IT in Slack. AI support ticket triage goes deeper on categories and urgency. Agencies use the client intake brief template to turn intake forms into Notion project pages with a Slack heads-up.

FAQ

Notion + Slack: questions.

Why can't I see my Notion database?

Notion only shows Fluxo Flow the pages you share with it. Open the database, click ••• → Connections and add Fluxo Flow.

Will the bot's own replies trigger the workflow again?

No. The instant Slack trigger ignores messages posted by the Fluxo Flow app.

Can it update an existing Notion page instead of creating one?

Yes, with "Update page properties" (status, dates, people, numbers) or "Add content to a page" to append text.

Can I use it on the Free plan?

You can build and Dry Run this on the Free plan. Running it live (schedules, app triggers, webhooks) needs a paid plan.
