Messaging integration

Twilio integration for AI workflows.

Text customers and drivers, send WhatsApp updates, and act on the replies.

Beta

In short

Fluxo Flow connects to Twilio with an API key or credentials you provide; workflows can send an SMS, send a WhatsApp message and get message status and more, and start from new incoming SMS. The integration is in beta.

Beta means it works but hasn't been tested against every account setup yet; actions and fields may still change. Found a problem? Tell us.

What you can do

Actions and triggers for Twilio.

Actions

  • Send an SMS

Sends a text message (SMS, or MMS with a media link) from one of your Twilio numbers or a Messaging Service.

  • Send a WhatsApp message

Sends a WhatsApp message from your approved WhatsApp sender: free text within 24 hours of the customer's last message, or an approved template (Content SID) any time.

  • Get message status

Reads a message's delivery status (queued, sent, delivered, undelivered, failed) and error code.

  • Look up a phone number

Validates and formats a phone number (free), optionally with line type — mobile, landline, VoIP — or caller name (paid Lookup add-ons, billed by Twilio).

Triggers

  • New incoming SMS (checked on your plan's schedule interval)

Starts a run for each text (or WhatsApp message) received by one of your Twilio numbers. Checked on your plan's schedule interval.

How to connect

Connect Twilio in a minute.

Connects with an API key or credentials, tested before they're saved and encrypted at rest.

  1. In the Twilio Console, copy your Account SID.
  2. Recommended: Account → API keys & tokens → create a Standard API key; copy its SID and secret (or use your Auth Token).
  3. In Fluxo Flow, open Settings → Integrations → Twilio and paste them.

Permissions & limits

What it can access, and how fast it runs.

Permissions requested

  • Everything: Twilio credentials have full account access — prefer a Standard API key you can revoke on its own

Limits and timing

  • Polling triggers are checked on your plan's schedule interval: Basic every 15 minutes, Pro every 5 minutes, Business every 2 minutes, Elite every minute.
  • If Twilio says to slow down (HTTP 429 or 503), requests wait as told and retry a limited number of times.

FAQ

Twilio questions, answered.

Do I need my own Twilio account?

Yes. Messages are sent and billed by your Twilio account, from your numbers.

How fast does the incoming SMS trigger react?

It checks your number on your plan's schedule interval (every minute on the highest plans). Instant delivery through a Twilio webhook is planned; until then you can also point the number's webhook at a Fluxo Flow Webhook trigger.

Can I send WhatsApp messages?

Yes, from a WhatsApp sender approved for your Twilio account. Free text works within 24 hours of the customer's last message; outside that window WhatsApp requires an approved template (Content SID).

What about US texting rules (A2P 10DLC)?

Texting US numbers from a regular 10-digit number requires a registered A2P 10DLC campaign in Twilio. Send through the campaign's Messaging Service SID.

Is the Twilio integration finished?

It's in beta: it works, but it hasn't been tested against every account setup yet. Tell us if something doesn't behave as expected.

Can I use Twilio on the Free plan?

You can connect it, build with it and Dry Run on the Free plan. Running workflows live (triggers, schedules, webhooks) needs a paid plan.

Can I call Twilio endpoints the integration doesn't cover?

Yes, if Twilio has an API: save a key in the encrypted credential vault and call it with an HTTP Request step.

Can I test a workflow without touching my real data?

Yes. Dry Run walks through every step with simulated app calls, so nothing is sent until you run it for real or activate its trigger.
